Last weekend was a three-day weekend for both Ryan and me, and we sure used it up well! We kind of kicked things off Friday night with our traditional Friday Night Dinner and Fringe/Blue Bloods viewing at Grandma Erm's. We made hamburger helper--I was out of creative dinner ideas--and had ice cream for desert. The finale of Fringe aired and it turned out pretty good! Now we've got to go back and re-watch it all from the beginning. We followed it up with a really good episode of Blue Bloods. We love that show! After all, it's got Tom Selleck in it, what could be better?!
Saturday, Ryan went to work. After he got home, we picked up Grandma Erm and took her to IHOP where she treated us to an All-You-Can-Eat pancakes lunch. It was a lot of fun!
Our next adventure was a quick trip to our duck hunting spot for closing day. We were hoping to catch either some ducks or geese on their last flight of the evening. We only managed to see one but that's okay. At least we went, which is pretty amazing considering the temperature on the car said 3 degrees when we got there. It was 12 when we left the house! I'd originally told Ryan it had to be at least 15 before I'd go, but seeing how it was the last day, I conceded. I almost lost my nerve however, as we drove towards our spot and the temperature just kept falling. I think Ryan was positive I'd be waiting in the car while he hunted but sure showed him! :)
As we got back to the car, my mom sent me a text asking what we were up to. I gave her a quick call and she invited us to join her and my dad for dinner at Juniper Take-out. Just in case you were ever wondering if the shrimp there are good, wonder no more. They are probably the best in the valley. It's my dad's favorite thing to order. We each got the shrimp platter--my parents got baked potatoes and we got fries. Delish!
Dinner was followed up by a trip to Al's and the Book Table to exchange some Christmas presents. The exchange was a bust--they didn't have my shoe size or the piano book that I wanted--but I did end up getting some pretty cool music anyway, so that's okay.
We ended the evening with some popcorn (Saturday was National Popcorn Day!) and Netflix.
Sunday we went to church, which was really good--except for the fact that it was freezing-- then had dinner with my parents. That night we watched Episode 3 of Downton Abby and ate more popcorn. We're popcorn lovers if you didn't know! My mom even made her caramel corn, something she hasn't done in FOREVER!
Monday came and we slept in! This never happens so we take the chance when we get it. Once we drug ourselves out of bed, Ryan got to working on some homework and I made breakfast. French toast and homemade orange julius were on the menu. It was tasty! Then we bummed around the house for a while until we went to run some errands before heading to Grandma Erm's for dinner.
As Tuesday rolled around, it was hard to get up but the long weekend was super nice!!!
